Questions, answered straight
Is RFPRound a government site?
No. RFPRound is an independent tool that reads the public SAM.gov database and the official state and local portals. We are not affiliated with SAM.gov, the U.S. government, or any agency, and we never charge you to bid — bidding on SAM.gov is always free.
Who can use RFPRound?
Any small business bidding on federal, state, or local contract work — including firms with 8(a), HUBZone, service-disabled veteran-owned, and women-owned certifications. Tell the Opportunity Matchmaker what your company does and it checks each notice against your NAICS codes, set-asides, and states.
Where does the data come from?
Federal contract opportunities come from SAM.gov, run by the U.S. General Services Administration, and state solicitations come from the official state portals RFPRound covers (22 states + DC, including the OCP Contracts & Procurement Transparency Portal for DC and the Texas ESBD); local solicitations come from 44 cities, counties, school districts, and special districts via Bonfire, DemandStar, IonWave and OpenGov. The data is public. Every opportunity page links back to its official listing.
How do amendment alerts work?
The SAM.gov data feed only provides the latest version of each notice - there is no change history. RFPRound snapshots every solicitation it tracks and compares each new snapshot with the previous one. A moved deadline, replaced documents, or a changed description on an opportunity you saved or match generates an amendment alert.
Do you cover state or local bids?
Yes — for 22 states and the District of Columbia: 2,054 state solicitations from Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Virginia, and the District of Columbia, from each jurisdiction's official portal, in the same catalog, with the same amendment watching — plus 231 local solicitations from 44 cities, counties, school districts, and special districts via Bonfire, DemandStar, IonWave and OpenGov. Every other state was audited the same way; where a portal gates its listings behind browser/CAPTCHA checks, a registration wall, or a JavaScript-only shell, that state is not listed until a clean public pull exists. We only list a jurisdiction when its coverage is actually live.
What is a set-aside?
Many federal solicitations are reserved for particular kinds of small businesses - for example 8(a), HUBZone, service-disabled veteran-owned, or women-owned firms. Your match profile holds your certifications, and RFPRound matches them against each solicitation's set-aside.
Is there a free plan?
No card is required to register. Deadline alerts run for your first 14 days from account creation; then they stop and you have 14 more days — through day 28 — to pick a plan and keep everything you saved. If no plan is picked, the never-paid account is deleted on day 29. Accounts that have had a paid plan are never deleted this way.
How do refunds and cancellation work?
Cancel within 14 days of your first subscription — from Account & Billing, no email or forms — and the account closes with a full refund. After the first 14 days, cancel anytime from Account & Billing or the billing portal; you and your team keep full access until the end of the paid period.
Can I add seats for my team?
Yes. Pro, Premium and Ultimate plans can add seats anytime at $29.99/mo or $299.99/yr per seat, from Account & Billing. Added seats are prorated, and seats you remove stop renewing at the end of the current period.
What is the difference between the live demo and a guided demo?
The Live Demo is instant and self-serve: one click opens a read-only sample account with real catalog data, no sign-up and no sales call. A Guided Demo is a scheduled walkthrough with a person - book one on the Book a Guided Demo page and we will tailor it to your NAICS codes and set-asides.
How fresh is the data?
The catalog is rebuilt from SAM.gov and the covered state portals' data daily, and every catalog page shows the notice count and the date of the current snapshot. The watch runs on the same daily cycle: each new snapshot is diffed against the previous one, so an amendment is flagged the day it appears in SAM.gov data.
Can I connect GovWin?
Yes. If your organization has its own GovWin IQ account, connect it in Settings under GovWin: you sign in with your GovWin credentials, they are stored server-side only and are never shown back in the app (the settings page shows them masked), and a test-connection button verifies the link before anything syncs. You can disconnect at any time, which deletes the stored credentials.
Do you guarantee we will win a contract?
No, and be suspicious of anyone who does. Federal contracts are competitive. RFPRound saves you the search and makes sure a fitting deadline never quietly slips — the proposal is still yours to write and win.
What happens to my data if I leave?
It's yours. While your account is open, the Primary user can export everything from Export & Transfer — one JSON file with your company profile, pipeline, workflow history, and every pursuit record. If your organization changes hands, the owner can transfer ownership — and all the data — to another Primary user instead of starting over. After an account closes, we retain records for at least 7 years and will provide an export on request by email, so you can meet your own retention duties.
What happens after we win a contract?
The pursuit's record continues past the deadline: the submission confirmation and tracking details, the award terms (confirmed against the official award notice with the award certification), a reporting schedule with reminder emails before every report is due, lightweight post-award report reminders, and a closeout checklist with a records-retention date. Lost instead? A short debrief captures the buyer's feedback and what to watch next time.
We have no proposal writer. Is this for us?
Yes — that's exactly who RFPRound is built for. If you can describe what your company does, the Opportunity Matchmaker can match you, and every match explains itself in plain English. The record's Notice Summary is built from the listing's own words, put in plain order, so first-time bidders can follow what a solicitation asks — nothing is added that the listing does not say.
